Yankees Hot Corner – Should Luke Voit be an All-Star?
Although the Yankees have had a plethora of injuries, there’s been one constant throughout the season; His name is Louis Linwood Voit III and he is set to take over the baseball universe. After last season’s improbable run after being traded by the Cardinals in exchange for Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos, Luke Voit is continuing to show why the Yankees traded for him.
Voit is currently hitting .283 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs. He has a 38 game on-base streak and up until this weekend had a 13 game hitting streak. He’s one of the few in the middle of the Yankees’ lineup who hasn’t gotten hurt, and he’s taken full advantage of being the top guy in the lineup.
With Aaron Judge and Giancarlo still on the IL, and Greg Bird out until further notice, would the season Luke Voit is having open up the chances of him being an All-Star? There’s no denying that it’s still very early in the season to be thinking about this but what other choices do the Yankees have? Masahiro Tanka and James Paxton has been up and down, Luis Severino has been sidelined with a strained lat all season, and all of the other candidates (Judge, Stanton, Sanchez) have spent an extended amount of time on the IL so far.
Voit deserves it and he’s a great story to get behind. If I was a betting man, I see the MLB Universe getting behind Voit and voting him into the All-Star game. On top of that, he’s well respected in MLB circles, especially by his own manager Aaron Boone and would be a great addition to the Midsummer Classic. What say you, Yankee fans?
