Women’s History Month Interview Series: Eva Shockey, Hunting & Outdoor TV Host
Eva Shockey is a woman unlike any other – she is a huntress.
Eva Shockey is a woman unlike any other – she is a huntress. Shockey has been hunting she was young. She began hunting with her father and her two grandfathers, Hal and Len, as she calls them. For the most part, Shockey and her father, who star together in their own hunting show, hunt mainly elk, deer, caribou, and other game mainly found in the frozen areas. While Eva has successfully hunted many, she is not yet fulfilled.
“I hope to hunt a mule deer in velvet at some point in the future, as well as a Roosevelt elk,” she said.
“I love working beside my dad. He’s a great role model and greater partner to share my life with,” she said. “He’s been in the industry for more than 30 years so I couldn’t ask for a better person to learn from.”
It seems as if she’s too blessed to be stressed, with working alongside her father and doing what she loves. But it’s actually not all that it’s cracked up to be. With all of the fans that Shockey has, she also has just as many haters. Death threats spew from her e-mail each and every day about how she is a terrible person for killing innocent animals. Shockey is not moved by the haters.
“I will take the bad with the good. Most people hide behind their computers and never say those same horrible things to my face, so I try to take them with a grain of salt.”
Eva Shockey is a strong woman. She is not afraid of haters, any animals that may come in her way, anything. This is why Eva Shockey is part of Double G Sports’ Women’s History Month.
