The Main Event, Episode 26 – The42’s Gavan Casey on Katie Taylor v. Christina Linardatou and women’s boxing
When it comes to women’s boxing, Katie Taylor is the cream of the crop. The 33-year-old from Bray, Ireland has helped lead the way in a talented pool that is waiting for equal pay and time. The next few months of matchmaking for Taylor are important, as a potential main event match inside Madison Square Garden against Amanda Serrano is on the table.
Before that, however, Taylor (14-0) must face Christina Linardatou (12-1). Set to take place inside the Manchester Arena on November 2, this women’s bout is considered the top bout of the night. The bout will be for the WBO Junior Welterweight Title and will air on Sky Sports and DAZN.

On the latest episode of The Main Event, host Dan Yanofsky talks to The42‘s Gavan Casey, who is on location in Manchester for the fight. This episode will be centered around the mindset of Katie Taylor heading into the clash. Gavan and I talk in-depth about Taylor’s previous bout with Delfine Persoon and how it may have affected her, a list of opponents she could face next and the Serrano bout. We also discuss a way to capitalize on St. Patrick’s Day in New York City.
Taylor appears focused ahead of her bout, but could something be different about her after barely beating Persoon inside MSG? Who exactly is Linardatou? Her tactics of removing fights from YouTube to mess with her opponents have given her somewhat of an edge. Will it be enough? Gavan, and I break the fight down, and much more.
