Preview: Sky Blue On The Road Against Portland Thorns | NWSL Week 14

After a bye week, Sky Blue FC (0-9-2, 2 points) is back and on the road for a midweek match against Portland Thorns (5-4-4, 19 points). This NWSL week 14 match is set for Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30pm ET and will be taking place at the Providence Park in Portland, OR.

This will be the first time both teams meet this season. Sky Blue is still looking for their first win. The Thorns defeated the Houston Dash 3-1 during NWSL week 13.

Players To Watch

Sky Blue’s Sarah Killion has been solid in the midfield. Killion’s performance is evident with her consistency and the minutes she has been accumulating with the team. Captain Carli Lloyd will help in connecting the midfielders with the forwards.

Savannah McCaskill and Imani Dorsey would need provide support on the last final third in order for Sky Blue to be effective up top. They were able to create opportunities during week 12, and we hope to see that again.

On the opponent’s side, Sky Blue needs to try to stop Meghan Klingenberg and Tobin Heath. Both midfielders will look to open up and play more to the sides to expose the defense. If successful, they will find spaces for Christine Sinclair and Ana Crnogorcevic to attack and create opportunities for Portland.

Match Injury Report

As of Tuesday, June 26, Sky Blue’s Jen Hoy (right knee sprain), Katie Johnson (right knee tendinitis), Amandine Pierre-Louis (right ankle sprain), and Rebekah Stott (back strain) will be out for this match.

The match will be live-streamed on go90.
