Seth Rollins suffers a knee injury on Monday Night Raw, may miss another WrestleMania
The road to WrestleMania is supposed to be filled with great moments/news. Unfortunately, it looks like an injury may derail a major WWE star yet again.
WWE reported that Seth Rollins left Raw this past Monday using crutches after Samoa Joe attacked him. They reported that his surgically repaired right knee was re-injured. With the way this story was being told, many assumed that it was all part of an act. It felt real however after taking another look at the video of Joe jumping Seth. As Joe went to choke Seth, the latter’s leg bent beneath him around the 3:20 mark.
Still not convinced? Here’s an image Rollins tweeted out in what we assume is in Birmingham, Alabama at Dr. James Andrews’ clinic. He is the well-known doctor who has helped fix multiple injuries to well-known athletes. That is also the facility that Rollins had his surgery to repair a tear in his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus (knee) in November 2015
WhatCulture’s Adam Pacitti provided more proof that this was a real injury with a look-in of Joe and Rollins talking to one another. You can almost see Joe asking, “Are you OK?” and can clearly see Seth saying “I hope so.” Considering what Rollins went through last time, its hard to not feel bad for “The Architect” of WWE.
Rollins was on the shelf for 7 months thanks to his original injury, missing WrestleMania 32. In WWE’s documentary, “WWE 24: Seth Rollins “Redesign. Rebuild. Reclaim.”, you can tell how visibly upset Rollins was not being able to compete. He was actually devastated. There are rumors going around that the injury could keep him out 4-6 months, and other rumors that say not that long at all. With all of these rumors going around, Rollins wanted to be sure he got his say. He sent out a series a tweets, stating:
“Wanted to take a second to thank everyone who has reached out to me over the last two days. Life doesn’t always go your way, but that is no excuse to surrender. If anything, obstacles exist to help us grow and evolve. This reinjury to my surgically repaired knee is real and a lot is up in the air right now, but one thing remains constant: my resolve. This doesn’t end for me until I’ve reclaimed the throne. And for me, fighting and defeating Triple H is the only way. I will work harder than I ever have and push myself beyond what I know. This isn’t over. The only way to wear the crown is to slay the king. I know what must be done and there’s nothing that can stop me.”
It must be tough to stay determined especially under these circumstances. It’s also great that he’s trying to continue the story that is currently being told. Plans have been made for a student v. teacher showdown at WrestleMania 33 between Seth Rollins and Triple H for months now. If he can’t compete at the “Show of Shows”, it is unknown what will happen to that storyline / the direction of Triple H.
There is no official update on the tests Seth took. We are sure more information will be provided by WWE ASAP. Here’s hoping its not as bad as it seems for Seth Rollins. The wrestling world is a better place with him in it.
