Scranton Shuttle: New York Yankees Call-Up Ben Gamel

The New York Yankees announced on Thursday that the organization has called-up outfielder Ben Gamel following an injury to Brett Gardner.

Gardner was hit on the right elbow on Wednesday and although X-rays came back negative, the outfielder will likely miss a few games.

Gamel, 23, is hitting .286 with a home run and nine RBIs with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees were carrying an extra reliever anyway have optioned left-hander James Pazos to Triple-A to make room for Gamel.
