Oliver Wahlstrom recalled from Bridgeport
In a bit of a surprise move, young winger Oliver Wahlstrom has been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to the New York Islanders. This move was made because Casey Cizikas was retroactively placed on IR with a lower-body injury.
It’s terrible news for Cizikas but great news for the kid, as he worked his way into being the first call-up at only the age of 19. Between he and Noah Dobson, the 2018 NHL Draft is shaping up to be a pretty good one for the Islanders.
Wahlstrom wouldn’t have been moved up to sit in the press box, so he’ll most likely be on the third line with Derick Brassard, although if they really love his skill he can play the wing on any of the four lines. Wahlstrom is a shoot-first forward, something the Isles desperately need.
Wahly will be a fresh face on a team that’s struggled to score goals so far this season. It’s only been five games but you can tell that the Islanders need to inject some more youth into this lineup.
One tidbit that’s interesting is a comment that Arthur Staple made about Josh Ho-Sang. He essentially stated that this would have been Ho-Sang had he not requested a trade. The full tweet is below;
