New York Sharks Off to 3-0 Start on Season
The New York Sharks are off to a 3-0 start on the season. They have been close and competitive games, but the Sharks have continued to find ways to pull off victories.
Jaws of Steel
In their first game against a very talented Baltimore Nighthawks team, they scored the game-winning touchdown with 7:10 left in the game. The defense was able to hold the Nighthawks scoreless for the final seven minutes of the game.
They showed that they can overcome adversity in their second game against the Philly Phantomz. After falling down 13-0 in the first quarter, they were able to outscore the Phantomz 21-6 in the remainder of the first half.
The two teams went back and forth in the second half, but the Sharks would prevail. They defeated the Phantomz by a final score of 28-25 to improve to 2-0.
After a Week 3 bye, the Sharks held their home opener against the Baltimore Nighthawks, who they defeated to open the season. After two close contests, the Sharks played dominant football. They jumped out to a 35-0 lead, 35-7 at halftime, and never looked back
New York went on to win by a final score of 49-26. The 23-point win is their largest win of the season thus far. They will be looking to advance to 4-0 next Saturday when they travel to take on the Maine Mayhem.
The Sharks are looking to bounce back in 2018 after falling in the second round of the 2017 Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) Playoffs to the Montreal Blitz. IF they can continue their stellar performance, they could see themselves back in the postseason.
Round 1 of the 2018 WFA playoffs will be played the weekend of June 30. The second and third rounds will be played the weekends of July 14 and July 21. The 2018 Women’s Football Alliance championship game will be played on Saturday, July 28 in Atlanta, GA.
