New York Jets Fans, Get Ready for Some Stadium Fun!
With the 2016 season home opener falling on September 11, the New York Jets are aware this day will have tremendous meaning to New Yorkers; the harsh memory of the events on 9/11 coupled with the start of the 2016 NFL regular season.
The first of many game day themes started in early August during pre-season, but will continue into the regular season with the first theme being 9/11. There are eight theme days total, so make sure you check your New York Jets App for updates. The home opener is also the official launch date of everything new and improved for the fans who make it out to the stadium each week. Suggestion; don’t just hear about it, be there in person to see and feel the buzz!
That’s just the beginning, folks. This season, brace yourself for a football filled, fun, exciting day at MetLife Stadium when in attendance to cheer on your hometown Gang Green. From game day apparel on sale throughout the stadium, to your Jets Cash Card with Jets Rewards to make entrance to games and purchases throughout the stadium quick and seamless, to an upgraded graphical video board that even shows the NFL RedZone, enhanced stats, and out-of-town scores, to the Jets Experience and Gen Jets Kids Zones located just inside the gates on the plaza where interactive games, picture opportunities and kid friendly inflatable obstacle courses, and finally to the culinary experience Chef Eric Borgia has created for all palates.
“The number one objective is, literally, we want people to have fun from the minute they get here until the minute they leave, and that could be ten hours,” stated Seth Rabinowitz, New York Jets Senior Vice President, Marketing & Fan Engagement. “It’s not just a 3-hour football game, it’s the whole day’s experience. Our mission statement, of course the football team takes care of their business, is to make sure all of the other stuff lives up to the same level as that. We’re in a competitive market, we know people have choices, so we want to make sure that we’re still a top choice.”
The pre-game, in-game, and post-game experience has gone through an interactive makeover, surely to grasp the attention of all fans in attendance, including the afraid-to-put-down-my-cell-phone type as the Jets Official App will not disappoint.
But what about the food, you may ask? Of course!
No football game is complete without the essentials of beer, hot dogs, wings, and…oysters? Yes, oysters, for real. There’s a plethora of new food items in store this season such as global pies (empanadas in yummy different flavors), the Barbeque Shack, Ester’s Seafood Shack (located in the clubs, also where you can get your oysters), and Topped Dogs (traditional hotdog paired with toppings, I tried them all and loved the NYRKR the most). Not to worry though, the Jumbo Jet items are back for a second season, and will be available in smaller personal sized portions.
I can’t possibly include all the upgrades and enhancements here in my preview, so that just means you should get to MetLife to insert yourself into the fun. Just remember, if you have never heard this before make sure you remember it, “Calories don’t count on Sunday’s”. Thank you Mr. Rabinowitz for the reminder!
Are you ready for some football?!
