New York City FC riding seven game unbeaten streak
Another victory for New York City FC. Against the Los Angeles Galaxy Domenec Torrent’s team has literally dominated and deserved the victory. With the three points won against the Galaxy, the Torrent team is on seven-game unbeaten streak. What’s more, New York City FC has won four of its last five contests. An incredible period for the Blues who collect positive results one after another.
At the base of these incredible results is the excellent work done by Domenec Torrent. The Spanish coach had a bad start this season. The victories never came and the performances were not excellent. Coming back, his arrival in New York was not received with great enthusiasm. There was a lot of skepticism about Torrent and his work. Yet Torrent has bypassed every obstacle and managed to turn the team around. The breakthrough came after the defeat of Toronto, which is the last of New York. The choice to play three back was the best for the team. This decision brought out the best of his players, not just in defense but in all areas of the field. New York City FC is more incisive on the wings, and in attack it is much more dangerous. This is precisely because of the change in game system adopted by Torrent.
It is not always easy for a coach to go back, change the idea of the game and the system. But only the great coaches are able to do this, to have an open mind and change the team’s skin depending on the characteristics of the players. Domenec Torrent is certainly one of the greatest coaches of the MLS and is demonstrating it. Innovative game ideas, solid relationship with the players and the results that speak for himself: New York City FC really does not seem to stop anymore and now they are aiming higher and higher. That this is finally a good year for the Blues? We’ll find out …
