What’s trending this Monday Morning? May 11th

This morning’s column includes mostly mention about the NHL, MLB, UFC, and the NBA!  Also want to take a moment to welcome back horse racing, over at beautiful Monmouth Park, Oceanport.  That’s where I spent the day on Saturday, enjoying all the festivities for Opening Day.

The NY Rangers forced Game 7 after beating Washington 4-3 in what Greg Wyshynski, of Yahoo Sports, described as a ‘heart stopping’ win.  The NY Rangers who have been using the hashtag #ChangetheEnding would like to have a chance to advance, and they sure have made the NHL playoffs live up to their usual excitement.  It’s back to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening, for the opportunity to finish off the Capitals.

In the MLB, it was ‘King Felix’ who got his 2000th strikeout, who made the trends.  Felix Hernandez was added to the short list of pitchers who got 2000 strikeouts in a victory over the Oakland As this past weekend.

Oh and in the NBA, it was another member of royalty who made the trends with a thrilling game ending shot, where he hit a three-pointer for the Cavs!  On Friday night, Derrick Rose hit a shot that put the Bulls on top.  Oh, and on Saturday it was Paul Pierce of the Washington Wizards.  As with the NHL, the NBA playoffs do not fail to disappoint when it comes to excitement and the tweets keeps on coming.

There were lots of tweets about the UFC matches, that took place on Saturday night, too.  If you were following the tweets on Saturday night, you know that there were thousands of tweets that were all about the MMA.  Even the fighters were tweeting! Jonavin Webb [ @JonavinWebb ] wants to know what’s next, and promises to ‘take any fight anytime.’  This came after a loss that many disputed.

Of course, there were some tweets about the NFL.  More drama about the Brady’s balls.
