WWE has also provided a press release on their website. Mauro showed his enthusiasm when he stated the following:

“Joining WWE has always been a lifelong dream of mine. I am thrilled to add my voice to the SmackDown broadcasts as the show moves to its new home on USA Network.”

Ranallo has previously worked as an announcer for PRIDE Fighting Championships and Invicta Fighting Championships. He is currently calling GLORY kickboxing and boxing on Showtime, and will be allowed to continue his work as part of his new deal with WWE. A huge advocate of mental health issues, he is extremely passionate about people who suffer from bipolar disorder. Ranallo is known for his enthusiasm during fights, his energetic broadcasting style along with frequent fan interactions and his professionalism while hosting several programs.

Mauro Ranallo is not new to the professional wrestling scene. The 45 year old Canadian native got his start in announcing at the age of 16, calling matches for Vancouver’s All-Star Wrestling. From 1999 to 2000, he served as a commentator for Stampede Wrestling. Recently, he became one of the English voices for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ranallo is also very playful with fans, make jokes in expense to the hilariously infamous WWE name generator.

This move provides some legitimacy to WWE broadcasts; bringing an experienced, respected worker into the fold. In time, this could be a very prosperous relationship that could have unlimited possibilities for both sides.
