Metropolitan Riveters to Raise Isobel Cup Champion Banner at Prudential Center
The Metropolitan Riveters announced on Monday that they will raise their 2018 Isobel Cup Champions banner prior to their home opener on October 20 at 2:00 PM, as they take on the Minnesota Whitecaps, on the main ice at the Prudential Center.
In addition to watching the Riveters unveil the championship banner prior to their face off against the National Women’s Hockey League’s newest franchise on the same ice that the New Jersey Devils skate on, the game will also mark the return of 2018 United States Olympic gold medalist, Amanda Kessel to the team. The game will not be the first time the Riveters will take to the big ice, the team opened the 2017-2018 NWHL season as part of a historic double header against the Boston Pride, prior to the Devils battled the Arizona Coyotes later that evening.
Tickets to the 2018 home opener, which will feature four members of the gold medal winning USA women’s hockey team, as well as the remainder of the Riveters home matchups will go on sale on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Fans can purchase the general admission seats for a reasonable price of 20 dollars at www.nwhl.zone/tickets.
In addition to Kessel lacing up the skates for the Riveters, Whitecaps players and fellow gold medalists, Kendall Coyne Schoefield, Hannah Brandt and Lee Stecklein will skate under the huge jumbotron. All fans in attendance at the home opener, will receive a voucher for two tickets to a select Devils home game during the 2018-2019 season.
The Riveters and Whitecaps will face off in the second of the back-to-back games during the weekend at the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House, on Sunday October 21 at 3:00 PM. Ticket holders to Sunday’s matchup will receive an exclusive opportunity to take photographs with the Isobel Cup Champion banner that will remain on display at Hockey House.
The rest of the Riveters home schedule will be played at RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House, with the Connecticut Whale making their way to Newark on November 18 and November 25. Puck drop for both games will be at 2:00 PM.
The Pride will skate their way to New Jersey on December 9 and then again on January 20 at 2:00 PM both Sunday afternoons. Isobel Cup runners-up, Buffalo Beauts come to Newark on Sunday February 2 at 2:00 PM and then again on March 3 at 3:00PM.
