Main Card Mainstay: Jake Hager to compete at Bellator 231 in CT
As long as he continues to bring eyes on the product, Jake Hager will continue to get opportunities in Bellator. The former WWE star will return to the Bellator cage this October at Bellator 231.
Like most of his fights so far, the man formerly known as Jack Swagger will face a relatively unknown fighter in the MMA world. Primarily s fighter in the Shamrock FC promotion, Anthony Garrett is 4-2, but relatively young compared to Hager’s previous opponents. He has won three of his last four fights.
Hager (2-0), a former All-American wrestler from the University of Oklahoma, has beaten both of his opponents via submission. Both he and Garrett have faced JW Kiser in MMA bouts, but Garrett has faced the man in the amateurs.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion continues to wrestle sporadically while working on his MMA career. This will be another main event spot for Hager, something that has upset a number of Bellator heavyweights with more fight experience. Tyrell Fortune, a man who has called out Hager before, is one of them.
Bellator 231 takes place on October 25 inside the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville CT. The main event will feature another heavyweight bout in Frank Mir v. Roy Nelson.
