Jet Up – The Jets should be embarrassed by performance in Baltimore

The New York Jets never had a chance.  They knew they would be running into a buzzsaw that was the Baltimore Ravens.  MVP Candidate Lamar Jackson was primed for another big game, and he delivered.  Jackson threw for only 212 yards but he had an easy five touchdowns and broke the NFL QB rushing record with 86 yards on eight carries.

Sam Darnold was fine (18/32, 218 yards, two touchdowns, one interception) but he made a key interception when the Jets were still in the game to seal their fate.  It’s disappointing not because it wasn’t expected but because it seemed the Jets lost their will towards the end of the game.

If there’s one positive to take from the Jets’ 42-21 blowout loss, it’s that Le’Veon Bell had the best game of his Jets’ career.  After a week in which he was in the tabloids for going bowling while having “the flu”, Bell delivered with 21 carries and 87 yards.

Another star of the game was Jamison Crowder, who is becoming a reliable target.  After dropping an easy touchdown pass early in the game, he redeemed himself with a difficult touchdown catch on the sidelines.  He finished the night with six catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Look everyone knew that the Ravens were going to walk all over the Jets.  It’s that they did it with such ease that should concern Jets’ fans.  The Jets came into the game with no hope of a close game, let alone a win.  Adam Gase didn’t have his team prepared and it showed.

If the Jets’ brass can take anything away from this game, it’s that Adam Gase is not the right coach for this team.  He clearly doesn’t have the room any longer and no matter how bad it looks firing a coach after one season, it looks worse churning out bad season after bad season.  Maybe one day they’ll learn.  Of course, they are the Jets.
