It. Is. On! Keith Thurman gets his fight against Manny Pacquiao
Five years ago, many thought this fight was possible. It took a long time to come to fruition, but Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman will finally clash for welterweight glory. They are set to do battle on July 20th inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This fight has its positives for many reasons, but it also has its drawbacks. Premier Boxing Champions will look to take advantage of the former, as the experience alone will be worth the price of admission.
Pacquiao (61-7-2) is on a role as he is currently on a two-fight win streak, winning the WBA Welterweight Title from Lucas Matthysse last July. While he is currently 40, his speed hasn’t quite diminished as everyone claims it has. While still looking for his knockout power again, he appears as healthy as he’ll ever be. The Senator from the Philippines is hoping to continue fighting for many years.
One of the last old school ring generals, Pacquiao has managed to innovate his offense based off of his opponent. That is especially true recently. With a wild card in the mix, the future Hall of Famer will have to put out all of the stops.
Fighting Pacquiao is a fight that Keith Thurman (29-0, 1NC) can sink his teeth into. The fight will be for Thurman’s WBA Super Welterweight Title. After 22 months away from the ring due to injury, Thurman defeated Josesito Lopez via majority decision back in January. While he looked very rusty, some aspects of “One Time” was there. Seeing how he had so much time away from the ring, the proposed fight was very questionable when it was just a rumor.
Now that it is happening, several questions regarding Thurman and Pacquiao have still not been answered. Fans may be excited at the idea of a superfight, but will it deliver once it actually happens?
