Injury forces ‘King Mo’ to miss Bellator 185 at Mohegan Sun Arena

For the second fight in a row, ‘King Mo’ won’t be able to compete due to injury

It’s not just the UFC that loses talent due to injury. Bellator 185 has lost it’s co-main event in Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal v.Liam McGeary due to an undisclosed injury to the former. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news.

This is a continuation of Lawal’s recent unfortunate luck. “King Mo” (21-6) was scheduled to face Ryan Bader at Bellator 180 in New York City. It announced on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that due to an injury he would miss that fight. That bout was for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship. This new fight was announced a few months back, and it would have been “King Mo’s” grand return. He was training hard for a comeback, but it looks like it was all for naught.

The last time Lawal fought in 2017 was at Bellator 175 against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Bellator is currently looking for a replacement for McGeary (12-2) to face. The man seems to be used to a switch like this. His scheduled fight at Bellator 173 was switched 3 times due to injury and visa issues. This will not stop the former Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion from his goal to become a contender once again.

Bellator 185 takes place on October 20th inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The main card will air on Spike. The main event is Gegard Mousasi against Alexander Shlemenko while Heather Hardy goes to battle against Kristina Williams.
