Days counted for Noah: Knicks ready to cut him
Joakim Noah is still a New York knicks player but his future is uncertain. The Knicks in fact have not yet transacted on the contract that binds Noah to the Knicks for two more seasons.
This is because the Knicks hope that Joakim Noah can be used in some capacity. It will wait until Monday, October 15th before the Noah contract is resolved. It is no coincidence that on October 15th the deadline will be presented for the presentation of the official rosters for the season. We’ll just have to wait and see for a solution.
If there is no trade for the Knicks, New York will cut Joakim Noah using the stretch provision clause. In this way, the Knicks will be able to spread the remaining 37 million dollars in two years still due to Noah to other assets.
Doing so, the Knicks will also go to lighten the salary in view of the free-agency 2019, when New York will be ready to go after a big name. But what will be the future of Noah? If this is the case, it will be free to sign as a free agent with any team and then get back into the game.
