Daniel Jacobs returns to Barclays Center on April 28 to face Maciej Sulecki
Will Daniel Jacobs continue his redemption tour to the top in his own backyard of Brooklyn?
It will be a homecoming for former Middleweight World Champion Daniel Jacobs, as he returns to Brooklyn to face Maciej Sulecki inside the Barclays Center on April 28.
Jacobs (33-2) is looking to get back into title contention after losing a somewhat controversial bout to Gennady Golovkin on March 18, 2017 inside Madison Square Garden. He started his tour back on top with a unanimous decision victory against Luis Arias at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on November 11. After the fight, Jacobs stated that he would face whoever in order to get back to where he belonged. Now, he will enter another home of the Islanders, where he has done battle many times before.
The undefeated Sulecki (26-0) is one of boxing’s hottest fighters. In 2017, the Polish-born Sulecki fought in the middleweight division, fighting in three bouts. He will make his return to the middleweight division to face Jacobs.
A win for Jacobs could very well propel him to a fight against the winner of GGG v. Alvarez II. With no set arena for that fight to take place in, a Jacobs win could make Madison Square Garden an enticing destination.
Two other bouts are scheduled to take place on the 28th. Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (20-0-1), another Brooklyn native, will face off against Johann Duhaupas (37-4). The winner of that fight will move on to face Unified World Champion Anthony Joshua (20-0). Both Jacobs and Joshua are both represented by Matchroom Boxing promotor Eddie Hearn. It was he who made this event possible. The women will be in action as well. Katie Taylor (8-0) faces Victoria Bustos (18-4) in a world title unification bout.
