Bringing Sexy Back. Colon Wants Return to Mets

Bartolo Colon has not thrown a major league pitch since September of 2018. He is a 46-year old man that looks like he just got home from a one-month cruise. For all intents and purposes, Colon should never step foot on a big-league mound again.

But ya know what, when Big Sexy speaks I am going to listen.

Colon was recently spotted on a video chat with ESPN in which he said he would not be opposed to playing one more year in the major leagues.

“I thought that last year maybe I would have the opportunity,” Colon said. “I know that if it didn’t happen last year, this year would be less likely. I’m getting older and the game is all about the young pitchers coming up. When you get older, teams no longer need your services.”

Colon also said that if he were to come back for one more year, he would ideally like to come back to the Big Apple and pitch for the New York Mets.

“If it was up to me, I would retire with the Mets. I would like my career to end in New York.”

Colon spent 3 of his 21 years in the bigs pitching for the Mets from 2014-2016. During that time, he managed to collect 44 wins, had a combined ERA of 3.90 and hurled 588.2 innings. He also made the All-Star team with the Mets in 2016 and had slugged his first, and only career home run on May 7, 2016.

If Colon were to make a triumphant return to the Big Apple, one can almost be assured that he would have a retirement party for the ages.
