Tina Charles had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Kiah Stokes added 10 points and 16 rebounds and the New York Liberty beat the Chicago Sky 86-82 on Sunday night. Ironically, it was the New York’s first back to back road wins this season. Allie Quigley hit 4 of 6 from 3-point range and finished with 22 points for Chicago (8-16). Breland had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Courtney Vandersloot added 12 points and 10 assists. The Sky have lost three in a row.
New York blew the game open with a 10-0 run to start the 2nd quarter. Powered by a strong 2nd unit, the Liberty outscored Chicago 17-2 to open the 2nd and take an 11-point lead. From there the Sky would recover and keep the margin to single digits the rest of the way. Chicago used back-to-back threes from Cappie Pondexter and Kahleah Copper to pull within one 65-64 in the 3rd, but Sugar Rodgers answered with a 3 on the other end to push the Liberty advantage back to four, and the Sky were no closer than 2 the rest of the of the way.
Liberty Continues Well Balance Attack
Sugar Rodgers hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, Epiphanny Price scored 12 points, and Shavonte Zellous had 10 for New York (12-10). The Liberty, who have won four of five, shot a season-high 53.3 percent (8 of 15) from 3-point range.
Once again the Liberty were dominating on the boards. They out rebounded the Sky 37-28. The Liberty improved to 11-6 when outrebounding an opponent. The Liberty improved to 11-4 when scoring more 2nd-chance points, holding a 15-2 edge against the Sky.

New York continues its 5-game road trip at San Antonio on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 PM (ET) at the AT&T Center.
