The UFC is heading to Atlantic City on April 21st
After 13 years away, the UFC will return to Boardwalk Hall, a few weeks after UFC 223
When thinking about Atlantic City, the first thing that comes to mind is the boardwalk, followed by gambling. It looks like we’ll have to add another word to describe the area: fight town. The UFC announced that New Jersey will get another event, as they will return to Boardwalk Hall on April 21st for UFC Fight Night 128.
This will be the first time since 2014 the company will be in Atlantic City. At the most recent event, Donald Cerrone faced off against New Jersey’s Jim Miller. The last time the UFC was at Boardwalk Hall was in 2003 for UFC 41.
The timing of this announcement could not have been more perfect. In July, Atlantic City’s Casino Reinvestment Development Authority group entered an agreement with WME-IMG to bring pure destination events to Boardwalk Hall. The agreement was worth over $4 million. Of course, WME-IMG represents various actors and fighters, and was part of the deal to buy the UFC.
No fighters have been announced for the card yet. Will Jim Miller be healthy enough to fight in his backyard? It will be interesting to see what the state of the company and the fans will be after surviving UFC 223 in Brooklyn a few weeks earlier.
Tickets for UFC Fight Night 128 will go on sale Friday, March 2nd.
