Tony Martin v. Keita Nakamura added to UFC Atlantic City
Another bout between two tough welterweight fighters has been added to UFC’s return to Boardwalk Hall
The welterweights are coming to UFC’s return to Atlantic City, and in full force. The company announced a new matchup for UFC Fight Night 128 in Tony Martin v. Keita Nakamura.
After previously winning three fights in a row, Martin (12-4) will be looking to get back on track. His last fight was a split decision loss at UFC Fight Night 116 against Olivier Aubin-Mercier. This will be his return to welterweight after fighting in the lightweight division for an extended period of time. For those keeping track, 2012 was Martin’s last welterweight bout.
It will be interesting to see how Martin handles the weight cut after time away. His opponent knows the feeling.
Nakamura (33-8-2, 1 NC) has gone back and forth between the welterweight and lightweight division. He has been in the former division permanently since 2014, going 7-2. The 33-year old Japanese star has traded wins and losses his last four fights. This will be a continuation of his second tour in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 128 takes place on April 21st at Boardwalk Hall. The card will feature several local athletes, including Pennsylvania’s Patrick Cummins v. Corey Anderson and New York’s David Branch against Thiago Santos. Other premiere fights include Uniondale’s Aljamain Sterling v. Brett Johns, Lindenhurst’s Ryan LaFlare v. Alex Garcia and hometown hero Jim Miller v. Dan Hooker. The main event of the show will feature Kevin Lee v. Edson Barboza in a lightweight bout. You won’t want to miss it!
