Sky Blue FC rang the NASDAQ Opening Bell on July 11, in New York City’s Time Square at the NASDAQ Market site and received an Opening Bell Cyrstal commemorative gift from David Wicks, a NASDAQ OMX Senior Executive.

Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC president and general manager expressed his appreciation.

“On behalf of everyone at Sky Blue FC, we would like to thank NASDAQ for giving us the opportunity to ring the Opening Bell.”

“As the only professional women’s soccer team in the New York/New Jersey market, we are honored to have been included in this special ceremony and to have our club associated with some of the biggest organizations in the world.”

The NASDAQ Opening Bell ceremony began with remarks from Wicks and Novo. After Sky Blue received the Opening Bell Cyrstal, Meridian Health, one of Sky Blue FC’s top sponsors joined Novo on stage for Opening Bell countdown.

Novo then spoke again: “With all the attention that was focused on the men’s World Cup, we were excited to have this opportunity to generate enthusiasm and interest for our female players, who are among not only the best in the United States, but are some of the best players in the world.”

The ceremony was broadcast live on major news networks, including CNBC, Bloomberg TV and FOX Business, and streamed live online via the Market Site webcam.

“Through this event, we exposed Sky Blue FC’s brand to a national and global audience,” Sky Blue FC owner Philip Murphy said. “We hope that being a part of the opening bell ceremony will help raise awareness for our club, as well as for the National Women’s Soccer League.”
