Sean Bierman Tosses Complete Game as Boulders Pummel Trois-Rivieres Aigles, 8-1
Starting Rockland Boulders pitcher Sean Bierman tossed a complete game, as the Boulders walloped Trois-Rivieres on Friday night at Provident Bank Park. Rockland broke the game wide open in the 2nd inning by scoring three times. A two-run double by Matt Nandin over the third base bag into the bullpen area brought two runners across to make the score 3-0.
Ryan Stowell lined a single into the left field scoring Nandin to increase the lead to 4-0. In the 4th inning, the Boulders added a pair of runs on back to back triples by Nandin and Andre De Jesus. Jerod Edmondson’s deep sacrifice fly to right field brought DeJesus widening the lead to 6-0. Stowell crushed a two-run homer to deep left center field that made the score 8-1. Starting Aigles pitcher Tyler Wilson was replaced by David LeBlanc.
Bierman cruised through most of the innings by striking out 6 Aigles batters, scattering nine hits with mistakes only coming in the 5th inning that yielded two hits, plus a ground out by Felix Brown that brought Trois-Rivieres’ only run of the game across the plate. This was a repeat of the July 6th match-up with the Aigles when Bierman gave up only one run, also.
Nandin had a solid night at the plate going 4 for 5 with 2 singles, a double and triple, plus 3 runs scored. Stowell went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI’s. Before the start of game, a banner was raised in center field honoring Jerod Edmondson for becoming the CAN AM all-time hits leader. With the victory, Rockland’s record improved to 26-19.
