Scarlet-White Game to Highlight Rutgers Day
The annual spring RU football inter-squad game, which has come to be known as the Scarlet-White game, will be held on Saturday, April 26. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
The game, which coincides with the university’s ‘Rutgers Game,’ is a full-day event that will have fun attractions for families and students.
The events of the day will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will include activities like NFL autograph session, face painting, and a mini combine that families can enjoy before entering the stadium. Food and drinks will also be available.
In anticipation of Rutgers officially entering the Big Ten Conference, the Big Ten Network will be at the game handing out T-shirts to fans.
Recent NIT champions, the Rutgers women’s basketball team, will be outside the stadium before the game to meet fans and sign autographs.
RU football alumni will also be playing in the annual Believe Bowl, a flag football event which started in 2011 and raises money for Eric LeGrand. The Believe Bowl will occur in the stadium before the scrimmage begins.
Another non-profit organization that RU athletes have been gaining awareness for is the “Be the Match” bone marrow drive. There will be a tent set up at the North Plaza of High Point Solutions Stadium run by Rutgers women’s soccer player Maggie Morash.
The tent will be open from 10:30 a.m. until the game starts. Anyone who stops by the tent will have a chance to save a life simply by taking a few minutes and cotton swabbing their inner cheek in order to join the bone marrow registry.
After the game, the current RU football team will be on the field for fans to meet, get autographs, and take pictures with.
The Scarlet-White game is the only game that the football team will be playing before their 2014 fall season.
The 2014 football season kicks off on Thursday, August 28 in Seattle, Wash. The Scarlet Knights will head west to take on Washington State.
The first Big Ten conference game of the season will be held at High Point Solutions Stadium on Sept. 13 against Penn State.
Tickets for the Big Ten Season are on sale now.
