Well, this is turning into Long Island vs. the World.
UFC welterweight Ryan LaFlare is the latest Long Islander to grab a spot at the first ever LI card. LaFlare is set to face Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira in a three-round welterweight bout at UFC on FOX 25.
Newsday was the first to announcement the bout.
LaFlare (13-1) is coming off an unanimous decision win over Roan Carneiro at UFC 208 in February at the Barclays Center. This is the second New York card LaFlare will be featured on.
Oliveira (17-3-2) is also coming off a recent win of his own. He defeated fellow welterweight Tim Means in March at UFC Fight Night 106 via submission.
LaFlare is the latest hometown fighter to join the card. He joins Gian Villante, Chris Wade, Dennis Bermudez and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman. Weidman is set to headline the card against Kelvin Gastelum.
Tickets for the July card are scheduled to go on sale June 2 via Ticketmaster.
