Starting on Wednesday July 30 at 11:05 a.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium in Montclair, New Jersey, the Rockland Boulders and New Jersey Jackals play five consecutive games against each other. So far, the Jackals have held the upper hand taking nine out of 14 games this season between the two squads. Currently, New Jersey sits in 2nd place in the Can-Am League, just 1 ½ games behind the first place Boulders.

During the month of June, twice New Jersey took two out of three games from the Boulders. However, Rockland also took two out of three games during a June 10-12 series at New Jersey.

Starting Jackals pitcher Michael Antonini dominated Rockland winning all three of his starts while striking out 19 batters. On June 4, Antonini shutout Rockland, at one point retiring 15 batters in a row and carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning. New Jersey’s closer Salvador Sanchez has racked up a couple of saves including his 15th of the season in a 5-1 victory on July 17.

Rockland’s first baseman, Jerod Edmondson, who is the all-time Can-Am League hits leader provided much needed offense in salvaging a win on June 5belting two two-run homers and four RBI. In a 11-2 rout on June 11 at Yogi Berra Stadium, Edmondson went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and walks. The Boulders have received solid pitching from Stephen Harrold who struck out a career high 10 batters and retired 15 Jackal hitters in a row as Rockland edged out New Jersey 5-4 on June 12. Harrold has struck out 20 batters while posting a perfect 3-0 record against the Jackals.

In July, the Jackals have taken three out of four from Rockland. The teams split a doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium on July 16. On July 4, New Jersey snapped the Boulders three game winning streak. Edmondson collected career number hit 698 in the loss.
