Ramon Flores Seeing the Ball Well in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Ramon Flores is starting to heat up for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he has been one of the hottest hitters for the RailRiders. Flores is hitting .293 (12-for-41) in his last ten games. The batting average may not stick out but Flores has had three straight multi-hit games and six total multi-hit games in the 10 game span. The 22-year-old outfielder also has clubbed four doubles, a home run and driven in five RBI.
Flores, who opened this season in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, after spending all of last season with the Eastern League Champion Trenton Thunder, has been a staple in Dave Miley’s lineup. The Venezuelan native has suited up in 22 of the 24 games the RailRiders have played thus far. He is fourth on the team in average as his season average is to the tune of .269 but he is third on the team in that category among the players who have played in at least half of games this season for SWB. His triple slash line is .269/.383/.410.
The left-handed swinging outfielder has been slotted all over the RailRiders lineup from being the table setter hitting leadoff, to as low as seventh in the batting order.
Last season, Flores, who was regarded as the 16th best prospect for the Yankees according to MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo, had a solid season for the Eastern League Champion Trenton Thunder. Flores played in 136 games for the Yankees Double-A affiliate serving as the primary left fielder where he hit .260 with six home runs and 55 RBI.
This year, he isn’t named on Mayo’s list but Flores has put together a solid beginning to his first season in Triple-A. The Yankees have a trio of outfielders in Slade Heathcott, Tyler Austin and Mason Williams, all in Trenton, who have received the prospect limelight, but Flores is quietly climbing the ranks of the Yankees organization.
