The New York Yankees have placed designated hitter Alex Rodriguez on the 15-Day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Rodriguez, 40, is hitting .194 with five home runs and 12 RBIs. Although off to a slow start, Rodriguez started to pick up the pace for the Yankees hitting .353 with three home runs and six RBIs over the last week.
Rodriguez sits eight home runs away from 700 and is 22 away from tying Babe Ruth on the All-time home run board.
The Yankees have called up left-handed relief pitcher James Pazos. Pazos is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 12 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees currently sit in the basement of the AL East at 8-16 and have lost their last six games. They will play the second game of a three game set with the Baltimore Orioles tonight in Baltimore.
