Columbia Pounded On Manhattanville To End Three Game Losing Streak

Columbia’s  hot shooting in the first half, led the Lions to a 84-42 victory over Manhattanville on Sunday afternoon. Columbia scored 56 bench points. It was the highest total of the season for the Lions. The Lions’ bench outscored Manhattanville 56-42. With the win, Columbia improves to 2-2 at home and 4-5 overall. It was a much needed win that also ended the Lions  three game losing streak.

Luke Petrasek scored 11 of his points in the first half as Columbia built a 45-22 halftime lead. The Lions made five of their first seven shots of the second half for a 27-point lead and extend the margin to 48 points with 5:53 left.

Jeff Coby made 4 of 5 shots and scored 10 points for Columbia (3-5), which was 34 of 58 from the field (59 percent). Fifteen Lions had at least one rebound as they controlled the glass 40-24.
Alex Tuci scored 15 points for Manhattanville. Freshman Brian Haggerty added 10 points for the Valiants, who only made 13 field goals — eight from 3-point range.
In the first half, Columbia shot 61.3 percent (19-31), held visiting Manhattanville to 29.6 percent shooting (8-27) and forced seven turnovers. The Lions defense was focused this time around. Offensively, clearly it was one of the programs best out put in years. The Lions dished out 25 assists in the game.  Combine that with stellar shooting , your going to win a lot of games when the offense is flowing that smoothly.
Next up for Columbia, a trip down to Coral Gables, Florida to face the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday night.
