Hockey is great this time of year. There are so many big games being played night after night, and none have been bigger for the New York Rangers than the one they have against Buffalo tonight.
Henrik Lundqvist’s perfect 22 save performance earned him that game puck, as well as his tenth shutout of the season, ranking him first in shutouts among all NHL goalies. Lundqvist has been terrific in his last two starts, yielding just two goals while making 60 saves.
The New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers will meet up for the fourth time of the season at 12:30 today. It is an important match-up, with playoff implications for both teams. Marion Gaborik, out with concussion-like symptoms, will be a game time decision for the Rangers today.
The Rangers dropped three straight home games with their loss to Minnesota, bringing their home ice record to an unimpressive 14-16-3. So much for home ice advantage.
Rangers general manager Glenn Sather chose to walk away from the deal for Dallas Star center Brad Richards, and it was the right decision.
