Brooklyn Boxing on Long Island: Elmont’s Tyrone James remains undefeated against Daniel Sostre
Local kid Tyrone Jones continues to impress as he fought in front of several family and friends
The world of combat sports has always been looking for “The Next Big Thing” to knock on their door. Tyrone James might be the guy they are looking for. The man from Elmont, Long Island, NY came into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and took away another victory. James (6-0) outboxed Daniel Sostre after a solid six rounds. The judges score the bout 60-53 across the board.
Throughout the entire fight, Tyrone “Pretty Boy” James had Sostre (12-15-1), a Highland, NY native, off of his game. It showed in the first round when Sostre was backed into a corner. James repeatedly landed impressive body shots, and by the third he had the crowd on their feet. His swift hands caught Sostre and knocked him off of his feet. Although stunned, Sostre kept on going but could not gain any momentum against the impressively fast James.
By round four, James was tagging Sostre with lefts and rights that hit everywhere. After clipping him a few times, a James win seemed inevitable after the sixth and final round. That fight ended up being his third victory via unanimous decision. His other three victories have come via knockout.
James’ following while at The Coliseum was noticeable. Before his fight, he spoke to the media about his influence when close to home, stating:
“When I fight at the Paramount we sell about $15,000 worth of tickets so that shows you my following is pretty big. Right now I have sold about $13,00 worth of tickets for this fight and that number is growing. I am going to put on a great show and it’s going to be fun.”
For those fans inside the building when his fight started, they got to see a young fighter make the sport look easy. The Junior Middleweight division might have a few contenders out there, and Tyrone James is slowly but surely moving up in the ranks.
