Astudillo Continuing Hot Hitting In Lexington
In a rain-shortened game against the Lexington Legends, the Lakewood BlueClaws were able to come out on top 9-4 to pick up its eighth win of the season.
Lakewood has not been that great this season, but there has been one constant this year and that is the great hitting of first baseman Willans Astudillo.
Astudillo continued his hot hitting against the Legends Tuesday night. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. Astudillo is batting .406 and now has four doubles and 11 RBI on the season to go along with his .406/.415/.506 slash line this season.
Lakewood third baseman Mitch Walding also added two RBI on the night while J.P. Crawford, Dylan Cozens, Andrew Pullin, Samuel Hiciano and Jan Hernandez all had one RBI each.
The BlueClaws fell behind early in the first inning when Lexington put up a four spot on starting pitcher Alejandro Arteaga. Legends’ designated hitter Fred Ford, shortstop Humberto Arteaga and catcher Chad Johnson picked up RBIs in that inning.
Alejandro Arteaga was able to dust himself off and managed to stick out the six innings Lakewood needed to win the game. He finished with four strikeouts, two walks and two earned runs for the evening.
Lakewood continues its series against the Legends Wednesday.
