Women’s soccer clearly came to compete at their Lake Buena Vista, FL conference championships, having defeated MAAC rival Saint Peters earlier this week in the championship’s first round, and now the number 3 seed Iona in the quarterfinals.
The Saints rallied well after being down 1-0 in the first half. Senior Brittany Pfaff and Freshman Tara Sobierajski scored the two comeback goals for the Saints just a few minutes apart from one another in the second half.
Siena advances to the MAAC championship semi-finals at 2pm this Sunday against the Fairfield Stags. The match will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
Turning toward Siena’s field hockey successes, the lady Saints enjoyed a hard-earned and much-needed win this Thursday, shutting out Sacred Heart 2-0, to end what was quite possibly the longest losing streak in program history. The team will use that momentum into their final home game before the Field Hockey MAAC championships next week. The Saints next game is this Sunday, Nov 3. against new MAAC addition Quinnipiac at 1pm.
