Deron Williams, who is arguably one of the top point guards in the NBA, is in a walking boot after spraining his ankle during summer workouts in Utah. Williams was hampered with ankle inflammation during most of the 2012-13 season.
Williams originally hurt his ankle during the 2012 Olympics where USA won gold handily.
Williams played through the injury for the beginning part of last year where he received multiple rounds of cortisone shots. In late October he missed a few practices and even some games leading into the All-Star break to heal.
Before the All-Star break, Williams averaged 16.7 points and 7.6 assists while shooting 41percent. After the break: 22.9 points, 8 assists, and 48 percent shooting.
The good news for Nets fans is that he will be ready for training camp, according to team officials. Brooklyn begins training camp on Oct. 1 at Duke University.
