Team of the Week
This was an easy one to choose. For the second straight week, the Fordham Rams pulled off an upset. A week after upsetting Villanova, the Rams traveled to Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday and came away with the schools first ever win over an NCAA FBS team. Fordham pulled off a last minute 30-29 victory over the Temple Owls. A touchdown pass from Mike Nebrich to Sam Ajala gave the Rams the win. Nebrich threw for a career high 320 yards and two touchdowns on the day.
Player of the Week
This week’s local player of the week is not a current member of a college football roster. Former Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand had his jersey number retired by the school’s football program on Saturday. LeGrand who was paralyzed after a hit in a game against Army is the first player to have his football jersey retired at Rutgers in the school’s 144 year history. LeGrand was presented with a sword and the No. 52 was installed on the teams film box. The number will be lit with 600 LED lights every night.
