Midfielder Ashley Nick will be playing ample, competitive soccer this offseason; on September 13, Sky Blue FC announced that they’ve agreed to send Nick, on loan, to WFK Zorky (of the Russian Supreme League) through December of this year.
Nick said that she’s very excited to play with WFK Zorky in the Russian competition and Women’s Champions League.
She added: “Any opportunity to play is a blessing and I am beyond happy to get to live my passion and see the world doing it.”
Coach Jim Gabarra said that Sky Blue is confident Ashley will benefit from the opportunity to play with WFK Zorky.
Three other Americans: Midfielder, Alyssa Mautz, of the Chicago Red Stars; defender, Amy Barczuk, of the Western New York Flash; and goalkeeper Chante Sandiford are now her teammates on the Zorky.
The Russian team was off today, but the women kept busy — Mautz tweeted: “Had a great time being a tourist in Moscow on our day off today w/ great ppl! @AmyBarczuk @ayenick @ChanteSandiford”
