Shoulder Injury Could End the Season Early for Jets QB Mark Sanchez

After being constantly talked about, the New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez could have a season-ending injury. He has a labral tear in his right shoulder. This injury happened in the fourth quarter of the Jets’ preseason came that ended with an overtime win over the New York Giants on Aug. 24. It is very likely that Sanchez will have to have surgery that will not allow him to play for the rest of the season.
Some are saying that this doesn’t have to be the end of his season. He does have some other options that could possibly allow him to play. He would have to go to rehab for his shoulder, or possibly another type of medical procedure. Sanchez took some hard hits by defensive lineman Marvin Austin in the preseason game. He ended up leaving the stadium with a wrap on his right shoulder.

Geno Smith took over the game after Sanchez left the field. Sanchez was constantly being compared to Smith during the preseason, and now it looks like Smith is going to be stealing the show. Now, it does not seem like it was a good idea to have Sanchez in the preseason games with an offensive line that was not prepared to be going up against the huge defensive linemen. Overall, Sanchez has completed 1,028 passes in 1,867 attempts for 12,092 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 69 interceptions in his NFL career. Although it is very unlikely that Sanchez will be returning this season, I hope to see him out there towards the end of the season.
