The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will take on Eastern Michigan at home tomorrow in the third week of the college football season. This is a game that the Scarlet Knights should win easily.
After suffering an opening game loss to Fresno State, the Knights rebounded last week defeating Norfolk State 38-0. The game against Norfolk is one that the Knights had to win and the team is in the same position as they get ready to play Eastern Michigan.
After this week, the season will get significantly tougher for the Knights, who will take on Arkansas next week before opening up conference play. Playing Eastern Michigan will be the final tune up game before the Knights start to see more formidable opponents.
The big event taking place during the Eastern Michigan game has little to do with the game itself and everything to do with the honorary ceremony involving former Rutgers football athlete Eric LeGrand.
LeGrand who was paralyzed on October 16, 2010, when he attempted to make a tackle on a kickoff against Army, will be honored at halftime. His jersey number 52 will be retired and the Knights are expecting the moment to be emotional and inspirational. LeGrand has been the face of the Knights program since that dreadful day back in 2010.
With emotions running high and the Knights having significantly more talent than Eastern Michigan, look for this one to shape into a blow-out. Eastern Michigan 3 Scarlet Knights 31.
