With women’s soccer coming up with a win earlier in the day, men’s soccer set out to do the same on Friday night, and they did. Seton Hall men’s soccer came out with a 3-0 win against the University of Rhode Island.
Junior midfielder Konrad Plewa led the Pirates to the 3-0 win by helping score two goals. The first goal of the season for the Pirates came at the 28th minute and it was also the first in Plewa’s career. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of sophomore Eric Lagg, who sent an arching pass over the Rhode Island defense for Plewa.
Plewa’s second goal came at the 84th minute when the Pirates were already up 2-0, securing their lead for good. Senior Chris Garcia and redshirt-junior Victor Manosalvas assisted with the goal. The second goal of the game came six minutes earlier from freshman Samuel Geiler.
Coming off the win against Rhode Island, the Pirates tried to keep the momentum going on Sunday afternoon against Drexel. Seton Hall fought till the very end to try to come out with a win, but they didn’t lose either.
Freshman Samuel Geiler led the team this game with a pair of scores in the 44th and 48th minute. The first goal of the game came from Senior Max Garcia who scored two minutes into the game and was assisted by Bolu Akinyode.
Drexel was putting up a fight, making it an exciting back-and-forth game between both teams. The game went into double overtime with a score 3-3, but nothing else happened, ending the game in a tie. The men’s soccer team is now 1-0-1 and play Monmouth University on September 6th.
