The Giants fell short last night to the Patriots with a final score of 28 to 20. The Giants had five sacks against the Patriots and Mike Patterson made 1.5 of them. Prince Amukamara almost had another interception following his first one. The Giants defense was showing some improvement last night since the last few pre-season games.
Last night, against the Patriots, they were dropping back and covering the receivers very well, as well as getting some good tackles in to stop the run. It is mainly their offense that needs work. They were playing well when they had all of their starters in the game, but they still were not making the right plays at the right time.
For example, the Giants had the ball and it was 1st and 10 and Eli threw it long to nobody. He needs to visualize the situation that he is in before he makes a long pass like that, especially if it is 1st and 10. To avoid those kinds of problems, the Giants should try running it first, and then throwing it that far.
Tim Tebow had a good game last night, as he threw 2 touchdowns to lead the Patriots to victory. He completed two strong passes to Sims, an 11-yard pass for a first down, then the 52-yard pass for the touchdown. Tebow found Sims again over the middle and he ran the remaining 39 yards, scoring with 12:26 left in the game as the Patriots took a 21-20 lead. Tebow later attempted to throw a deep pass down the left side toward Dobson and Trumaine McBride of the New York Giants stepped in front of him and picked it off.
