New York Football Teams Need to Shape Up

It still seems like there are problems in New York. The Jets did come out on top over the Giants with a score of 24-21; however they had five turnovers during the preseason game. Sanchez ended up hurting his right shoulder in the fourth quarter caused by defensive tackle Marvin Austin. Smith threw three interceptions in a span of 12 attempts, the first one because of an inaccurate pass. The second interception was because of an overthrown pass and the third was a bad read.

Smith was 16-for-30 and threw 199 yards. You can tell that he did not look like he was NFL ready. He was entering this game after only playing 14 snaps in the preseason. The Jets thought that he could be their saving grace at this point, but he is just not ready. Before putting him in a game, he should be getting used to playing in NFL conditions. The Giants seem to keep having problems in the red zone. Every time that they make it down the field and have the opportunity to score, they don’t.
Eli manning completed 8 passes out of 20, with a total of 83 yards. The Giants only have a few more days to improve on offense. They need to focus on not getting sloppy in the red zone. The defense, however, did pretty well, except for the penalties that they kept getting called for. One of their key players, Stevie Brown (safety), suffered from a sprained ankle and will be getting an MRI done.

Overall, both teams need work and hopefully they can pull it together in time for their season openers.
