The New York Jets are still in a mess with their quarterback situation.
They have recently said that Mark Sanchez will start Saturday’s preseason game. Sanchez’s competition right now is Geno Smith. Smith threw four interceptions during drills on Wednesday during practice. Head coach Rex Ryan was not happy and described it as “brutal” as he stood there and watched.
On Thursday Ryan stated that Sanchez and the rest of the starters will play in the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ryan also stated that Smith might get a chance to play but it is very unlikely. Smith has been having some ankle problems which may explain his performance lately. His practice totals are 70-of-124 passing, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Sanchez has very similar practice totals.
So, the Jets quarterback situation is not looking too well, but they both still have a chance to improve and get their preseason practice in.
