World Wrestling Entertainment, along with 2K Sports, officially announced this morning that legendary 80′s icon, The Ultimate Warrior, will be appearing in the much anticpated video game WWE 2K14, set to be released October 2013. Check out the official video announcement below:
The internet had been abuzz throughout the weekend as teasers were sent out through social media outlets stating that their “big surprise had a feud with the nWo, won the Intercontinental Title twice, is not in the WWE Hall of Fame, wore facepaint and is a former bodybuilder”.
It was reported that Warrior filmed a commercial and interview in full facepaint with a group called Zambezi and the shoot took place in Los Angeles.
WWE just confirmed this morning that The Ultimate Warrior will be in the 2K14 video game. Warrior will be free to fans who pre-order the game. The follow is an official statement from Warrior following the announcement:
“Immortality is inspiration, pure and simple. An example to others that they, too, can do things larger than the life they are actually living, and Ultimate Warrior was the pure embodiment of this belief, in what has proven to be a very attention-getting and inspiring way,” said Warrior. “It was my good fortune to be his creator and performer, and I am humbled by all those fans who’ve not only kept his legacy alive, but deepened it over time. In ‘WWE 2K14,’ Ultimate Warrior’s creed, ‘Always Believe,’ lives on.”
It should be noted that Warrior’s appearance in the game is a deal that was directly brokered with 2KSports, and NOT with WWE. Therefore, fans should not expect to see Warrior appearing on future WWE programming. While this is a step in the right direction to bury the hatchet between the parties, it could also be an attempt to lure him into the WWE Hall of Fame, as was done with Bruno Sammartino last year.
