Signings:
SS Stevie Brown signs his tender: Brown, who received a second round franchise tender on March 11, signed the contract today that will be worth $2.023 million. It is a one-year deal, reports Art Stapelton of The Bergen Record. Brown had a breakout season in 2012, finishing tied for second in the NFL with eight interceptions. He also forced and recovered two fumbles. Brown is 25 years old.
QB David Carr re-signs: The Giants made an important move yesterday by re-signing Carr, a back-up that the coaches and Eli Manning are most likely comfortable with. This will be his fifth year with the G-Men, so he knows the system and is very athletic. He was the first overall pick by the Houston Texans in 2002 NFL Draft out of Fresno State. USA Today’s Mike Garafolo reports that it is a one-year deal.
Contract Updates:
TE Brandon Myers: Myers’ deal is a four-year, $14.25 million contract including a $1.5 million signing bonus, but the last three years of the contract are voidable so the contract really is a one-year, $2.25 million deal. His cap number for 2013 is $1.125 million.
LB Dan Connor/LB Keith Rivers/S Ryan Mundy: All three players contracts are one-year with a base salary of $715,000, the veteran minimum.
Rumors:
Victor Cruz deadline: According to the New York Daily News, the deadline for teams to sign WR Victor Cruz to an offer sheet is April 19, 2013. It will be a nerve racking month for the Giants front office and it’s fans.
