Cruz not on Colts radar, but Steve Tisch doesn’t think it’s over: Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted yesterday that his team is on the verge of snagging a big time receiver. Some were worried it was Victor Cruz due to the fact that the Colts have enough cap space to give him a contract he would desire, but Irsay publicly stated that it is not Cruz.

Even though the sweepstakes for Cruz is dying fast, Giants Chairman and Executive VP Steve Tisch feels the Giants aren’t out of troubled waters yet.

“Nervous? I’m anxious,” Tisch said. “It’s the reality of this period in free agency. Is it likely (Cruz will be presented with an offer sheet)? Probably. Then we’re going to have to deal with it. But we’re not avoiding that possibility. We’ll address the reality of it when it happens.” If another team signs Cruz to an offer sheet, Tisch said, “We’re going to go as far as we can go to keep him on the team.”

Tisch appeared to be negotiating against himself when he was asked if Cruz would get as much as $6 million per season, similar to what WR Wes Welker received from the Denver Broncos. “I think Victor is going to get a little higher than that,” replied Tisch.

Idiot.

David Diehl restructure/pay cut in works?: In addition to his Cruz comments, Tisch also touched on the contract status of David Diehl. The veteran offensive lineman, who has spent his entire nine-year career with Big Blue, is entering the final year of his contract and is due to make $4.475 million. Since a week before free agency, rumors were swirling about Diehl taking a cut or being cut.

Tisch said yesterday that the Giants were working on a restructure/pay cut similar to what the Giants did recently with CB Corey Webster. Webster accepted a pay cut, but also received added bonus money and a voidable year. “I think he’s an asset,” said Tisch of Diehl.

Ahmad Bradshaw gaining interest: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that the Steelers and Packers are interested in Bradshaw who was released by the Giants on February 6, 2013. No visits have been scheduled.
