Signings:

WR Louis Murphy signs: Add another receiver to an already crowded receiving corp. The Newark Star-Ledger’s Jenny Vrentas reported that Murphy signed a one-year contract yesterday and money details are yet to come; it’s most likely veteran minimum considering his poor stats the past two seasons.

LB Dan Connor signs: The former Cowboy made a trip to East Rutherford yesterday and never looked back. ProFootballTalk reported that Connor singed a one-year deal but the money details have not been released. Connor will compete with Mark Herzlich for the

middle linebacker position, unless the Giants draft an LB next month.

TE Brandon Myers signs: The Raiders leading receiver from last season visited Saturday afternoon and signed in the evening. The New York Daily News’ Ralph Vacchiano reports it’s a one-year deal and while the money details haven’t been released, don’t be surprised if it’s $2 or $3 million. Myers had a very good season in 2012 but you wouldn’t know about it because he played in Oakland. He started 15 games, caught 79 passes for 806YDS and 4TDs. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 Draft but scouts had him ranked as high as a third rounder. He was considered a project player who was an excellent blocker but needed to improve his route running. One scout was also worried about off field issues.

Myers showed last year how well he can play with a decent QB, and now he has Eli Manning. Martellus Bennett was good but Myers should be much better. Difference though is Bennett is 6-7 while Myers is 6-4 but more reliable. With this signing, you can rule out Tyler Eifert in the draft unless he’s the highest guy on the Giants board when their pick comes. Myers to me is the best move the Giants have made this off-season.

Rumors:

Two teams bow out of Victor Cruz stakes: Jane McManus of ESPN New York reports that the Rams and Vikings are no longer interested in Cruz. The Vikings won’t have the cap space because of the Greg Jennings signing and it seems the Rams are poised to move on with younger receivers. In my opinion, this thing isn’t over until the Giants give him a big contract or when the season starts.
