This is the DoubleGSports.com Athlete’s Voices column in which local star athletes provide guest posts updating their fans on what they have been up to. Today’s post is from former Rutgers Women’s Basketball star and current member of the New York Liberty of the WNBA, Essence Carson. Essence will be posting a blog on the fifteenth of every month.

Essence Carson

Hello world!

It’s been an awesome month here in Istanbul. We’ve finally turned the corner and put together five straight wins.  That’s something to definitely be happy about. Not only have we won five straight, but we’ve added my 4Seasons management-mate,  Ebony Hoffman, to the roster. She brings a lot to the table for us. Now, we’re able to stretch the defense out, be more of a force inside, and compile more rebounds. This has a lot to do with our recent winning streak. Seems like 4Seasons is having a takeover here in the ‘Bul with Cappie, Ebony, and I- lol.

The New York Liberty has done some great things this off season. I’ve officially resigned with the team. It feels good to know that I’ll be back in the blue, white, and sea foam green uni. I’ve watched the Liberty since I was about 12 years old and always wanted to play for the organization. Fast forward some years and I’m now entering my 6th season with the Liberty. Bringing a championship to NY is still on my agenda. After signing Katie Smith, obtaining the rights to Deanna Nolan, and trading for higher draft picks, I’m confident that GM/Coach, Bill Laimbeer, is doing all that is needed for a legit championship contention.

Ahhh, March is here! Spring is right around the corner. More importantly, my album, Broken Diary, is completed and ready for you guys. I had the chance to shoot my third video for my next single, Bye. So far, each of my videos bring you a different type of visual for each track. I really enjoyed shooting this one. I can’t let the cat out of the bag, but the director did an awesome job of putting it all together. The video should be available to view in a few weeks. Now that the album can be put behind me, I’m working on my next mixtape. You should be expecting another project from me later this year as well. Stay updated with everything over at www.EssenceCarson.com.

Until next time!
