Fierce Five Make Kellogg’s Tour Stops in Philly and Newark This Weekend

Added by Shannon Hovan on November 8, 2012.

The 'Fierce Five' will be part of the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions coming to PA and NJ this weekend.

This weekend, the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be graced with the presence of the most captivating group of young athletes from the London Games: the Fierce Five.  Gold medal gymnasts Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber roll into Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Friday November 9 and then head to Newark’s Prudential Center on Saturday, November 10 as part of the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions.

The Fierce Five will be joined by members of this summer’s Men’s Olympic Team, including Jonathan Horton and All-Around Bronze medalist Danell Leyva.  Nastia Liukin, the 2008 Olympic All-Around champion is a feature member of the show’s cast, along with other Women’s National Team members Sabrina Vega, Sarah Finnegan and Anna Li.

The show is an enthralling combination of choreographed routines featuring traditional artistic gymnastics with the added punch of entertaining acrobatics.  Routines feature popular songs including LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” and Beyonce’s “Who Run the World (Girls)”.

Early on in the tour World Champion vaulter McKayla Maroney suffered a knee injury and it should be noted that she will not be performing at this weekend’s stops, but will be present at the shows.  Men’s Olympic Team member, John Orozco injured his knee at the October 19th show in St. Louis, Missouri and will not be at either show this weekend.

Nine shows remain on the tour, which kicked off in San Jose, California, the site of the Olympic Team trials, on September 8 and will conclude on November 18 in Brooklyn, New York.  Tickets are still available at http://kelloggstour.com/tickets/.

Aly Raisman is my favorite from this team. I know most people would probably pick Gabby Douglas, but I just love the way Raisman shows determination, focus, and a drive to succeed. She goes about her business.
